Education with a Foundation

“Education with a Foundation” provides computers to the surviving children of Naval Special Warfare personnel killed in training or combat. The program helps ensure that these children are given one resource they need to help them excel in their education.

Beginning as early as the first grade, these children are given their own high-performance computers with optimum speed and processor capabilities. To keep up with changing technology, the computers are replaced approximately every three years ensuring that the children are able to work with the current software and hardware during every step of their education. The final computer provided in the program, given after the senior year of high school, is a high-speed laptop computer that the students can take with them to their college or university, post-secondary school, or simply into their adult lives.

Through this program, the NSW Foundation is recognizing the individual child, and the misfortune that each child has endured. The response from the children is heartening. Thirteen year-old Raimen Tapper, son of David Tapper, Navy SEAL killed in Afghanistan, wrote,

“I am writing to you on my very own brand new computer. It’s sweet and built just for me. It has all the things I wanted for my own computer. My homework will be so much easier because of all the supplies I now have at my fingertips. I really appreciate this as I know so many more kids will when they get theirs. Thank you so much for helping out with my school supplies. This is way cooler than I thought it would be.

Sincerely,

Raimen Tapper

P.S. If there is anything I can do for the NSW Foundation to try and help, I would be happy to do it.”

We believe that this program provides much-needed tools in the educational process for these children, thereby enhancing the way to success. The Naval Special Warfare Foundation’s success is tied to the Naval Special Warfare community, and their interests are ours. The Naval Special Warfare Foundation will not waiver from the support of NSW families.
